Slice Of Sauce is a firm launched by Cody and Emily Williams, a husband-and-wife team. The firm primarily sells dehydrated condiments that are packaged into convenient slices. The investors appeared on the 10th episode of the 12th Season of the Shark Tank show. They pitched their business idea to potential investors with the hopes of getting a deal of $200,000 for 10% equity in the firm.
The Slice Of Sauce Company has dedicated its resources to manufacturing and selling non-GMO, gluten-free, all-natural condiment slices that add flavor to any food in an instant.
It creates an even amount of flavor in every bite and helps in keeping fingers clean. The products are shelf-stable, meaning that there is no need to keep them refrigerated. You can learn more by watching this YouTube Video.
How Was Slice Of Sauce Launched?
The co-founder and CEO of Slice of Sauce, Emily Williams has some hospitality background. Her father is a restauranteur in Michigan. While she was helping him braise vegetables for a barbecue sauce one day, her attention was caught by some unused but rich nutrients parts of vegetables.
She quickly mixed them, ground them, and then dried them to see what would happen. Something interesting and amazing happened. She came up with a concentrated sheet of spices and flavor to use with other dishes. The idea for the Slice of Sauce Company was born.
What Happened In And After Their Shark Tank Episode?
The Slice Of Sauce went to the Shark Tank show hoping to get a deal of $200,000 for 10% equity in their business. Sharks loved the taste of the products but were not impressed by the prices. However, they had one Shark who was interested to invest. Alex Rodriguez offered them a deal of $200,000, which came as a convertible note.
It means that only when their sales reach $1.8 million he would put in $200,000 for 15% equity. The couple was happy and ready to accept the deal. Slice of Sauce had a Kickstarter fundraiser campaign in March 2018.
After they raised a lot more than their original goal of $15,000, the campaign concluded in April 2018 with 677 backers and $30,090 in pledges. Their website launched in the spring of 2019, and they managed to take their invention to the Natural Foods Expo in Anaheim to spread the word to a bigger audience.
After their appearance in the Shark Tank episode, which aired in January 2021, the exposure of the firm brought a considerable amount of sales their way, more than they had expected. The Slice of Sauce products are available on the company’s website. The company is still in operation. As of April 2022, Slice of Sauce is estimated to have a net worth of $2.6 million.
With more customers now interested in their products from even the international markets, the company is expected to record more growth in the coming years.
