The Cheese Geek is described as a subscription-based Artisanal cheese firm. It is not just an average cheese company. The owners strive to prove time and time again that there are no limits set for customer satisfaction.
This subscription-based firm offers a wide variety of cheese boxes that are expertly stuffed with artisanal cheeses.
Launched by Richard and Edward, the company uses different local sources to guarantee top-quality products. For now, the owners say that there is nothing like the technology behind the business. Cheese Geek offers profiles of various cheeses and delivers a customized ‘cheese profile’ to each customer.
Who Owns Cheese Geek?
Cheese Geek was launched in 2017 by Edward Hancock and it later became a joint venture with his friend, Richard Simpson who currently holds the title as COO. After experiencing a ‘cheese trolley’ in France 20 years before, Edward recalled how he felt like the luckiest kid in the entire world being able to have such incredible options.
Fast forward to many years later, the shocking realization of the lack of customer service, convenient prices, cheese descriptions, and sizes, he believed he had to do something about it.
In that context, Cheese Geek was launched in 2017 and in 2018 it got its first on-board member, Richard Simpson. Simpson was a Newcastle Alumni alongside Edward. For now, Richard is the Chief Operations Officer (COO) for Cheese Geek and they keep expanding their expertise and customer base.
Cheese Geek Popularity
Besides their vibrant branding and delicious tasting cheeses, Cheese Geek guarantees that their clients’ preferences are met providing a cheese profile and a huge selection of just their finest cuts.
Appearance In Dragons Den
The company entered the Dragons Den aiming to get £150,000 for 3% of the stake in the firm. In the Cheese Geek’s pitch, Edward insisted on his vision of becoming the United Kingdom’s dominant cheese brand.
Most of the Dragons were doubtful when the duo began explaining their numbers, including Peter Jones but that never stopped them from making their offers.
The Cheese Geeks got an offer from three dragons, but Stephen Bartlett managed to steal that deal. Not only did the Cheese Geeks owners get the offer that they desired, but it was also Stephen’s first investment into a business on the show.
Bartlett offered the firm £150,000 for 5% equity with the terms that all the money would be paid back in 24 months. It eventually turned out to be a good day for all.
Where Is The Company Today?
Cheese Geek has been growing rapidly and it appears to be transforming the cheese sector by the day. They have already launched a new and improved app, giving the clients the convenience of sending and receiving cheese easily and they are now expanding across the United Kingdom. Data shows that the company’s net worth in 2022 is more than one million sterling pounds.
Apart from their innovative brand strategy, the Cheese Geek also has a blog that answers all the clients’ cheesy questions. So far, they are doing well and are expected to go up from there.
